The Grass Harp by Truman Capote

Paperback97 pages. Each is vividly distinct, no matter the length of their appearance in the book. Anyhow, I’m glad I got past all of that because I absolutely loved this short novel. The mood is also lighter and more humorous. The story is charming; seemingly fictional and truthful at the same time. La prima austera e fredda, la seconda aggraziata, infantile e semplice.

I read this many years ago and found it to be a beautiful and tender memoir. That’s my only complaint, and it’s not a great one. Eppure non sono mai riuscito a padroneggiarlo.

His first novel, Other Voices, Other Roomspublished instayed on The New York Times bestseller list for nine weeks and became controversial because of the photograph of Capote used to promote the novel, posing seductively and gazing into caote camera.
