I love her complexity in describing life. The only two stories that stood out to me were “A Wife’s Story” and “The Management of Grief,” the latter of which might be one of my favorite stories of all time. I was going to say, The Sea, The Seabut it’s got one of those mitigating elements going on. This collection is unsettling, the disturbing experiences of people torn away from culture. Any reviewer who finds this book boring probably has never read Don Quixote the world’s first novel let alone much else, and is therefore hardly qualified to comment on the basis of such limited experience.
