I would expect Elaine to have been a bit less wimpy considering she was from the future. Her history is impeccable; the storytelling is straightforward but emotionally driven. Not all authors can capture all that in this genre. Trapped in a passionless marriage, computer analyst Elaine Metcliffe awakens one morning to find herself in a stranger’s bed. Just from reading this one I was hooked. It was certainly steamy and I ended up really caring about the characters and how this book would end.
This story had me hooked from the beginning. Also, some of the scenes felt cut off. The scene where the uncle’s body dies and Morrigan tries to escape into Elaine had potential hide spoiler ].
It felt dated as this was Schone’s first romance book, none of the characters were really likeable, and the plot was all kinds of crazysauce but not in a fun way. Hot and cold running water. Robin Schone books are simply irresistible. She was able to make from so overused subject as time traveling a great love story.
It would have made a great time travel adventure had the erotic bits not gotten in the way to completely robun an engaging story. Through the notes she describes how she was transported into Elaine’s body in the future, was committed to an insane asylum by Elaine’s 21st Century swaken for being so different, and then died. An overloaded, jumble-sale of a plot might have been redeemed by its characters, but Elaine poor Elaine is towed along in the wake unable to decide whether she is going to cow C19th England I think this is set in England by virtue of her good American common sense, or scuttle away as a victim of her awful family.
